ABCD 2:A franchise that promises multi-platform family experience
ABCD, India's first ever 3D dance film, backed by spectacular choreography , a racy soundtrack and an allnew starcast, emerged a box office hit when it released in 2013. No wonder then that it paved the way for the sequel, Remo D'Souza's ABCD 2. The studio arm of Disney India, producer of both the films, has made the sequel bigger with the novel pairing of GenNow sweethearts, Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor, along with Prabhudheva.Once again, it is packaged with foot-tapping music, a real life story, pulsating international locations like Las Vegas and The Grand Canyon and zesty choreography .
Interestingly, ABCD is the first Bollywood franchise of Disney , a studio that is known for pioneering successful franchises globally . Excited about developing their “truly local franchise with dance at its core“, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Managing Director, Disney India, says, “Our creative teams across the company are focussed on delivering great content, quality products and memorable experiences for family audiences. With ABCD, we have created a franchise which is tailored to provide its fans a unique multi-platform experience.“
For starters, the studio's youth channel Bindass will air a reality dance show themed around the film. It will trace the journey of three passionate dancers, who team up to pursue their dream of representing India at one of the most coveted international dance stages. The cool ABCD merchandise, which will include apparel and accessories and an interactive mobile game inspired by the movie on Indiagames, are also aimed at giving viewers an out-oftheatre experience and some keepsake memoirs. Stating that the dance film is close to his heart, director-choreographer Remo adds, “I'm thrilled to be a part of this journey as the film is an extension of my partnership with Disney . It is now growing beyond the realm of the silver screen and will move on to platforms like gaming, apparels and a TV show too.“
