Aamir Khan's Dangal has raced ahead at the box office to register the second-highest opening of any film in India in 2016.
He further added that the film had received some Rs 59 lakhs in collections from its Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions as well.
The highest opening day earner remains Salman Khan's Sultan, which is also set in the same milieu as Dangal — wrestling, Haryana.
Dangal opened across 4,000 screens and is expected to benefit from the Christmas weekend in adding to its collections. It is being lauded as among the best films of 2016.
